Themes

A Theme is a saved set of appearance choices for TaskManSync. It can set the background, border color, and border thickness for the taskbar, Tasks, the Active Task, Launchers, and Decorations. Themes do not change item membership, order, identity, or synchronization.

Create and apply a Theme

Open TaskManSync Settings > Themes and choose New Theme. Name the Theme, select it in the list, and edit its appearance controls. A new Theme starts inactive, with every property set to Default. Theme names do not have to be unique, so choose names that help you tell your Themes apart.

Use a color swatch or enter a color for a Background or Border field. Typed colors accept #RGB, #RGBA, #RRGGBB, or #RRGGBBAA; unsupported text is cleared to Default when you finish editing. The Default placeholder and the adjacent reset control leave that property to TaskManSync’s normal appearance. Set Border Thickness to Default or to 0–5 px.

Select Active to preview and apply that Theme; activating one Theme deactivates any other. Clear Active to use the normal appearance with no Theme. There is no built-in Default Theme.

Edits to a Theme’s name and appearance, and changes to which Theme is Active, are previewed in the applet whose Settings page is open. They remain drafts until you choose Apply or OK. Cancel discards those drafts and restores the saved appearance. New Theme and Delete take effect immediately and are not undone by Cancel. Deleting the Active Theme leaves no Theme Active and returns the workspace to its normal appearance.

Edits to an inactive Theme do not change the workspace preview unless you make that Theme Active. Once saved, the Active Theme applies to all TaskManSync applets in the same Plasma session. Themes and the Active selection persist across restarts; they are application-wide presentation preferences, not synchronized workspace data.

Each property is independent. A Theme can mix explicit colors and border thicknesses with Default values; a Theme does not need to define every property. When there is no Active Theme, or a property is Default, TaskManSync uses the applicable normal TaskManSync and KDE/Plasma appearance. For element-specific behavior and Decoration precedence, see Theme Elements.

Themes control appearance only. They do not set task width or alignment, Decoration text styling, Decoration width or placement, Region behavior, Launcher targets, or Hiding. See Other Settings, Decoration colors and appearance, and Hiding.
