Regions Designer

Use the Regions Designer to create and edit saved Regions Layouts. Creating a layout starts with an empty Regions List. Enter its name, add Regions, and save the configuration page to store your edits. Saving a layout does not rearrange the current workspace; use Arrange Now for that.

The layout list on the left lets you select a saved layout, create one, move it up or down in the list, clone a nonempty layout, or delete the selected layout. Moving a layout changes only the order of layouts in this list. It does not change the Region order inside a layout or the workspace Order.

The Running Applications selector lists current application choices and category choices for Launcher and Unassigned. A Widgets choice is available when a hosted Plasma Widget is present. Select a choice and use the add button to append its Region to the list. Drag a Region by its handle to change its position, or remove it with the remove button. Repeated Application, Launcher, and Widget Regions are allowed. If an application choice has a best-effort warning, its identity may stop matching after an application or desktop-environment change.

The separate Decorations selector adds a Region for the selected Decoration definition. You can also drag an application launcher into the Regions List to add an Application Region for that application; this does not add a Launcher Region. Learn how to create definitions in Creating and Editing Decorations.

Unassigned is optional and a layout can contain at most one. Its choice remains in the selector after adding it, but the add button is disabled while the layout already has an Unassigned Region. Remove that Region to add it again elsewhere.

Launcher, Widget, and Unassigned are category choices, not applications or runtime items. A Region does not reserve or permanently bind a particular item. A Decoration Region refers to its selected definition, rather than to a specific Decoration already on the taskbar.

The Regions List order is the order of the placement opportunities. Editing that order changes the policy used for later automatic placement and for Arrange Now; it does not continuously move existing items. Scripted Decorations are limited to one active placement, unlike Static Decorations; see Placing Decorations before adding repeated Regions for a Scripted Decoration.
