Using Launchers
A Launcher and its position remain in the workspace until you remove it, including across TaskManSync and Plasma restarts. Tasks represent current windows and are rebuilt from the windows present at startup.
Click a Launcher or choose Launch from its context menu to ask KDE to launch its target, even if a related Task is already present. TaskManSync does not promise to focus an existing window; the application decides whether to open or reuse one. Any observed window is a separate Task, not a replacement for or match to the Launcher.
Both entries can therefore appear together:
Launcher
FirefoxClosing Firefox removes that Task, but the Launcher remains. Drag a Launcher to move it in the shared Order. Removing it from its context menu removes only the Launcher and its saved target; it does not uninstall the application or close running Tasks.
If KDE can no longer resolve the target, the Launcher remains but cannot launch; TaskManSync indicates the unavailable target. Remove it if it is no longer needed. TaskManSync does not replace it with another target.
Hiding the Launcher category changes visibility across the workspace, not membership or order. Use the applet’s Hiding controls or the Hiding submenu in a Task, Decoration, or Widget context menu; restore hidden Launchers through Hidden…. See Hiding for details.
The active Theme controls Launcher styling, not its target or position. See Theme Elements.
