Text and TDML

Static Decorations have two presentation formats:

  • Plain Text displays the source literally. The only thing not displayed is an optional metadata header (--[[ ... ]]) at the top, which carries the Decoration’s name and settings.
  • TDML (TaskManSync Decorator Markup Language) formats text with TaskManSync-specific tags. It is not HTML, Markdown, CSS, or a programming language. A TDML Decoration can also start with a metadata header, which is not TDML and is not displayed.

Use TDML

Use it for styled text or presentation alignment. For the language guide, complete property list, limits, examples, and Scripted Decoration behavior, see the TDML Guide and its reference.

The TDML editor preview reports parser diagnostics. Invalid properties can be ignored while valid formatting remains; fatal input is shown literally so the source is not lost. See the TDML Guide’s invalid-input section.

TDML controls presentation only. It does not choose the Decoration’s Content, Fixed, or Flexible width, or change the Decoration’s workspace position. See Decoration Width and Placing Decorations. For surface and text color precedence, see Colors and Appearance.
