Placing Decorations
A placement is the Decoration’s position in the one shared TaskManSync workspace. It appears in the same sequence as Tasks and Launchers; moving it changes that shared sequence for the other applets in the Plasma session. The saved workspace order, including Decoration placements, is restored after an application or Plasma restart. For the broader synchronization behavior, see Task Order Synchronization.
Place and move
In TaskManSync Settings > Decorations, select a definition and choose Place to add it at the end of the workspace. You can also drag its preview from the definition list onto a taskbar to choose an insertion position. Drag a placed Decoration to move it within the shared sequence.
The definition list’s Move Up and Move Down buttons only sort the reusable definitions in Settings; they do not change workspace order. Editing a definition updates all of its placements without moving them.
Static definitions can have multiple placements. Each placement has its own position, and moving or removing one does not affect the others. A Scripted definition allows only one active placement; remove it before placing that definition again.
Remove, hide, and delete
Right-click a placed Decoration and choose Remove Decoration to remove that placement. The definition remains available to place again, and any Decoration Region that references it remains a placement opportunity. Removing a placement does not delete Scripted private storage.
Delete in Decoration Settings removes the definition everywhere, including its placed instances and its occurrences in saved Regions Layouts. When a Scripted definition has persistent data, Settings offers a choice to keep or delete that data.
To hide a Decoration without removing its placement, use This in the Hiding controls in its context menu. Hiding changes visibility, not the shared workspace order. See Hiding.
Applet visibility
The definition’s Taskbars setting controls where its presentation is visible: All applets or one selected TaskManSync applet. The numbered choices identify applets currently connected to the Plasma session; the displayed number can change as applets join or leave. If the selected applet is removed, the setting remains and the Decoration can be invisible until you select All or another available applet. This setting does not create a separate placement or order.
Every applet uses the same definition and workspace sequence, but a Decoration adapts to each panel’s orientation and available space. Static definitions can therefore appear with different dimensions on horizontal and vertical taskbars. A Scripted Decoration runs in only one TaskManSync applet at a time; other applets render the shared presentation rather than running a second copy of the script.
